The Oakland County Homeland Security Division is offering a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Seminar for healthcare professionals on March 18, 2019. The 2-hour training will provide leadership and employees with current U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) guidance and tips from trained law enforcement professionals. This program has been expanded upon to include the latest research from Texas State University / Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) program. The focus of this training is to increase awareness and survival skills. Handout materials, a PowerPoint presentation and new videos will be used as part of the lesson plan.
We recommend all employees complete the following DHS Independent Study on-line course prior to the seminar (no cost involved):
IS-907 Active Shooter: What You Can Do

This course can be completed in approximately 45 minutes. After successful completion you will receive an email link for a certificate from FEMA, which can be retained for your records.
A FEMA Student Identification (SID) is required to register for and participate in any training provided by FEMA. Go to https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid and click on “Register for a FEMA SID”. You will need this number to complete the IS-907 Active Shooter: What You Can Do training.
This Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Seminar is being offered to healthcare professionals in Oakland County. This training will be provided at no cost.
